The Mpumalanga Sunbirds gave back to their community when they hosted a netball outreach at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, October 19.
Young players were taught the basic individual and team strategies of netball during this five-hour clinic. Despite the hot weather, the young girls never ran out of energy, lapping up the knowledge of the experienced provincial players. SPAR Lowveld had made the day possible.

“SPAR has always seen the need to give back to communities through sports, and what better way than partnering with the Mpumalanga Sunbirds? By providing opportunities for skill development, physical fitness, social interaction and personal growth, these clinics play a vital role in promoting the sport and fostering a healthy and active lifestyle for girls across different backgrounds,” said Bella Mongane, the sponsorship controller of SPAR Lowveld.
“It is also a vehicle for us to give back with our SPAR Petals Pledge-a-pack Campaign to support girls in need of sanitary pads. I absolutely loved seeing the team spirit and how the girls were also coaching one another.
“We are hopeful for future clinics like these that will help impact young girls to be better players and feel more confident in playing the sport. SPAR has been supporting the Mpumalanga Sunbirds over the years with sponsorships that enable them to participate in the Telkom Netball League. Through these clinics, we hope to encourage the girls to also be future Sunbirds players and to give back to their community.”
