The man was attacked by the dog over the weekend.
The 58-year-old, who was the caretaker of the dogs, was attacked when he arrived home in the early hours of Friday.
“The victim resided in his employer’s yard and worked as a caretaker of the pit bulls,” said provincial police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli.
“The victim was discovered by a security guard, lying motionless on the ground, with multiple injuries, as well as a pit bull dog was found next to the victim.
“Police found the man motionless, lying on the ground with some visible injuries on his body. He was unfortunately certified dead by the medical personnel.”
The dogs were declared dead by the local SPCA.
