JOHANNESBURG – The deaths of six children in Naledi in Soweto has been linked to an organophosphate called Turbufos.
The children ate chips bought from a spaza shop.

So why is this pesticide that is used on farms and is lethal is being found in spaza and other shops in townships?
A researcher has told eNCA that its being widely used as an effective rat poison which raises questions about living conditions in townships.
Makgabo van Niekerk from the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa discussed this with eNCA.
