Six Community Policing Forum (CPF) members were shot dead in Qumbu, Eastern Cape, last night. The victims were reportedly ambushed by unknown gunmen, and police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawiswa, confirmed that the injured survivors have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. “Unknown suspects pounced and shot at the victims. The motive for the shooting is unclear at this stage,” Mawiswa stated.This incident comes shortly after the recent Lusikisiki massacre in the same province, raising concerns about escalating violence in the area.
