Boy dies after allegedly eating spaza shop snacks

JOHANNESBURG – A 13-year-old boy has died after eating snacks in Khubvi, Thulamela in Limpopo.

It’s believed he ate crisps offered to him and three other boys by a shopkeeper.

This is the latest incident of suspected food poisoning in a spate of cases around the country.

The three other boys who also ate the snacks are in a stable condition at the Donald Fraser Hospital.

According to the provincial government, there have been eight similar incidents in Mopani and Vhembe.

Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba is advising parents to encourage children to stay away from illegal spaza shops.
