Just five kilometres outside Caledon in the Western Cape is the ultimate thrill with SA Forest Adventures’s new K3 Zipline, officially the longest in the world.
After three years of planning and its recent successful test flights, the epic K3 has finally welcomed its first guests, who get to conquer the 3.2-kilometre adrenaline-pumping ride.
Officially signed off by an independent engineer, this record-breaking zipline promises an unforgettable experience soaring across some of South Africa’s most stunning landscapes, notes The Newspaper.
The K3 gets the record as the longest zipline in the world for surpassing the previous record-holder, Jais Flight in the UAE, by nearly 400 metres.
Before flinging yourself across the sky, the experience begins with an exhilarating seven-kilometre 4×4 journey up the mountain, offering breathtaking views before the real show on the K3.
This zipline is set to become a major magnet for adventure tourism in the breathtaking Cape Overberg region. Clinton Lerm, the mastermind behind SA Forest Adventures, spent years relentlessly hunting for the perfect location. After an exhaustive search, he finally discovered the ideal spot, boasting not only seamless logistics but also scenic beauty.
Bookings opened on Monday, 16 September 2024, at 17:00.
For safety, participants must weigh between 50kg and 120kg, and can’t be suspected to be intoxicated in any way, pregnant, or suffering from heart conditions or physical disabilities.
The entire adventure, including the zipline and a ride on the ‘Red Rattle’ tractor, will take approximately one hour, and the experience will cost R1,800 per person.
Depending on the participants’ weight, the speed descending from the mountain peak could reach up to 120 km per hour. After about the first 200 metres the ground is approximately 500 metres below you.
With only 24 spots available per day during the opening month, it’s essential to secure your booking early.
