The R40 between Mbombela and Barberton is open following a fatal accident between a truck and a SUV yesterday, September 21.
The SUV’s four occupants, including a child, were killed and burnt beyond recognition. The driver of the truck sustained some injuries.

The accident was reported to have taken place around 17:00. The recovery of the scene lasted for almost 10 hours with the road being fully cleared this morning, September 22.

The spokesperson of the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, said the investigation into the cause of the accident ongoing.
