One person has died from extreme cold

HARRISMITH – The uMngeni Municipal emergency centre says it’s tried its best to assist motorists stuck in snow on the N3 Highway.

The centre has thanked people who’ve assisted with blankets and hot meals for those caught in the freezing temperatures since Friday.

Three families managed to reach the centre.

The snowfall brought the N3 to a standstill and led to the closure of other roads in KwaZulu-Natal.

One person has died in a taxi, after being exposed to severe cold overnight.

KZN executives are, this hour, meeting with cabinet to affect a proper response to the current disaster.
