Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane announcing the start of placements starting on Monday.
PARENTS can look forward to happy SMSes for 2025 Online Admissions, starting on Monday, 16 September.
The Gauteng Department of Education will be issuing messages to parents who applied online for their grade 1 and 8 pupils.
After receiving these SMSes, parents have two options: to accept offers as final or accept provisionally.
With final offers, children are automatically processed. Those who accept provisionally will have spaces allocated for a certain period, which is 14 days, while waiting for other offers.
Matome Chiloane, Gauteng Education MEC, mentioned that not everyone will receive SMSes due to unforeseen technical glitches on Monday.

“We advise parents to also log in to the Gauteng Admissions system to check if their children are placed or not.”
He urged parents not to panic if they have not received offers.”
This is an ongoing process that will continue until the last pupil is admitted,” MEC Chiloane assured parents.
“Don’t panic, all children will eventually be admitted,” said MEC.
About 828 858 online applications were received – 353 000 for grade 1 and 474 955 for grade 8. He said 19 032 applications have been set aside because of outstanding documents.
MEC Chiloane said another round of admissions, to allow late applications and submission of outstanding documentation, will be opened on 11 December.
