LIMPOPO – A 21-year-old is expected to appear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (September 12) after he allegedly raped an 86-year-old woman in the early hours of Monday morning (September 9) in Kirkvorsfontein, Dennilton.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the victim was asleep in her home when she felt someone undressing her.
“While trying to pull her clothes down, the suspect grabbed her by the throat and strangled her. She screamed for help, but her voice wasn’t audible. The suspect repeatedly raped her through the night,” his statement read.
The suspect fled the scene the following day but was traced and arrested.
He was charged with rape.
Shocked by the incident, the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ensured that justice is served in view of the suspect’s extremely troubling actions.
