WATCH | Celebrating our rich and diverse cultures

The aim of this day is to create a sense of pride in one’s own identity and heritage, while also emphasising appreciation for those of other South Africans.

Heritage Day has its own tradition: it is ‘braai day’, where South Africans enjoy meat on the fire together with family and friends. This symbolizes the unity between different cultures.

This day offers people the opportunity to reflect on their roots, learn from each other and appreciate the diversity of cultures that make up South Africa.
