JOHANNESBURG – The events that played out at Helen Joseph Hospital with Tom London documenting the facility’s state has set tongues wagging.

In response, Professor Shabir Madhi, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Wits University has a sent note to his department reminding them about the oath they took as students and after graduating.

Madhi has acknowledged the ailing infrastructure and healthcare worker shortages across medical facilities in Gauteng. 

But says despite these challenges, it is incumbent doctors and other hospital staff respect patients and treat them with care and compassion.
