Women in blue execute operation in Kimberley – DFA

In honour of Women’s Month, the women in blue from Roodepan SAPS, in collaboration with Kagisho SAPS, the Department of Home Affairs, Sol Plaatje Traffic Department, Roodepan SAPS Women’s Network and safety volunteers, united their efforts to carry out Operation Basadi in the Frances Baard District.

IN HONOUR of Women’s Month, the women in blue from Roodepan SAPS, in collaboration with Kagisho SAPS, the Department of Home Affairs, Sol Plaatje Traffic Department, Roodepan SAPS Women’s Network and safety volunteers, united their efforts to carry out Operation Basadi in the Frances Baard District.

The operation was spearheaded by Colonel Michelle Ford, the Kagisho SAPS station commander.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane, the initiative included a vehicle checkpoint in Roodepan, where 160 vehicles and 456 individuals were stopped and searched. Notably, traffic fines totalling R7,050 were issued for various violations.

The operation also involved compliance inspections at tuck shops, premises were searched, and high-visibility patrols took place in hot-spot areas.

Gopane emphasised that Operation Basadi will continue throughout August to celebrate and recognise the significant contributions and strides made by women in law enforcement.
