UPDATE: Mpumalanga siblings accused of killing father to apply for bail | Mpumalanga News

Three of the four siblings accused of killing their father appeared in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court earlier today, August 20.

The matter was postponed for formal bail application to Tuesday, August 27.

A Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said currently, there are no charges laid against the fourth sibling and she has since been released.

“The three accused, being Pat Molefe (45), Nnana Molefe (36) and Mamotseki Molefe (45), are ramanded in custody and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Four siblings, three sisters and a brother, between the ages of 36 and 45, are expected to appear in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 20, for the suspected murder of their 71-year-old father.

They were arrested in Heidelberg, Gauteng, on the same day that the victim’s body had been found on a couch in his residence in Balfour by some community members at about 11:00 on Saturday, August 17.

A Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said some police members and medical personnel were called to the scene.

“The father had multiple visible gunshot wounds and was certified dead by paramedics. A murder case was opened and the team of experts conducting the investigation immediately commenced the probe. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had previously applied for and was granted a protection order against his children,” he said.

Mdhluli said empty cartridges were also found on the scene.
