The Royal Pirates will be another local team from Fetakgomo Tubatse to compete in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League next season.

The Pirates from Maandagshoek Village were promoted to the third tier of South African football after clinching second place in the Safa Hollywoodbets interregional provincial play-offs held at Mapodile Stadium in Steelpoort on July 27 and 28.

The winners of the play-offs were Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup from the Mopani District.

As the host and the only team representing Sekhukhune, the Pirates enjoyed massive support from football lovers from all corners of Sekhukhune. They started their games exceptionally, winning their first game 1-0 against FC Inter on July 28.

Their second game for the day, however, dented their hopes as they lost 4-2 against Basel FC.
On Sunday, the hosts regrouped to beat Waterberg District’s P&C Academy 2-0 and drew 1-1 against table-toppers Golden Syrup.

Meanwhile, Basel and Inter from Vhembe and Capricorn districts will continue to campaign in the regional Safa league, having finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Royal Pirates’ management thanked those soccer lovers who supported their team during the play-offs. The management vowed to continue their top-notch performances in the ABC Motsepe League.

The Pirates will join two local teams from Fetakgomo Tubatse in the ABC Motsepe League, namely Ngwaabe City Motors and Tubatse United.
