Pastor Phillip Mashudu and his wife Elsie Matlou Mashudu were on their way to Parys in the Free State on Friday to attend a church conference when they were abducted between Heilbron and Sasolburg.
The couple were found unharmed in Everton last night.
Police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said the couple had been traced after a successful investigation.
“A provincial task team was set up and worked day and night with their colleagues to follow up on all leads. The couple’s vehicle was found in Sebokeng on Sunday but they were nowhere to be found,”
“The team left no stone unturned in their search and tracing of the pair and last night a breakthrough was made which led to the arrest of three people in Sharpville. Further investigation by the team led to a house in Everton where a fourth suspect was arrested. Police seized multiple bank cards at the address, as well as a significant amount of cash and a toy gun,” Makhele said.
