Police intercepts MP’s vehicle worth R4m en route to Zimbabwe – LNN – Network News

A suspect was arrested and a Toyota Landcruiser worth R4m belonging to a Member of Parliament recovered after it was stolen from the Menlyn Mall parking lot on Wednesday.

Limpopo SAPS say they believe the vehicle, belonging to an MP, was on its way to Zimbabwe when they intercepted it in Lebowakgomo outside Polokwane on the same day it was stolen.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said the suspect is currently in custody and further investigations are continuing.

The Zimbabwean national (42) are facing charges of being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle as well as contravening the Immigration Act. He is expected to appear in court on Monday.

• On July 5 a Toyota Fortuner stolen in Pretoria and on its way to Zimbabwe was also intercepted and a 44-year-old suspect arrested.
