THE Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation is offering exciting market access opportunities for local fashion designers and live music artists or bands.

The deadline to apply is fast approaching. So, interested parties are encouraged to act quickly. Gauteng-based fashion designers have until Sunday, 25 August, to apply for a unique opportunity to showcase their work at the Fashion and Textile Trade Fair in Cape Town, scheduled from 7-13 September 2024.

The department will select three talented designers to represent Gauteng at this prestigious event.

Departmental spokeswoman Nomazwe Ntlokwana said artists will have an opportunity to record their own music with a reputable studio.

“The initiative is one of its kind that is packaged to unleash the Gauteng talent as we call all nations to Zwakala to Gauteng province. It’s aimed at giving a platform to up-and-coming musicians to access various markets of opportunities for income generation and sustainability of their craft while they create job opportunities for others especially in their own communities,” Ntlokwana said.

For unrecorded live music artists and bands, there’s an equally exciting opportunity to showcase their talent at popular tourist venues and other locations across Gauteng.

Selected artists will also have a chance to record their own EP and receive professional coaching. Priority will be given to artists from the townships, informal settlements, and hostel areas.

Applications for this opportunity must be submitted by Wednesday, 28 August 2024, using the Google form available at this link.
