Gauteng online admission deadline extended to August 14

The extension comes after the department received numerous complaints from parents and guardians about the online system.

The online applications were due to close on Monday.

Education MEC Matome Chiloane provided an update on the online admission application process on Sunday.

“Parents were struggling to upload and complete the applications,” he said.

“It was an issue with SETA, but they were able to resolve it. We then, therefore, took a decision to extend the closing date.

“August 21 is the deadline for all documents, so parents will have seven days after the closing date to provide all necessary applications so that the applications can be completed.

“Applicants who uploaded or submitted fraudulent or invalid documents will forfeit the opportunity to receive placement offers.”

Chiloane said the placement of pupils would start on September 16.

“This is when the first batch of communication will go out, parents will start getting SMSs of placement offers, and this will continue until the last learner.”
