COSAFA Women’s Champions League: Gaborone United and University of Western Cape set for final showdown

The finalists for the COSAFA Women’s Champions League are now confirmed, with Gaborone United set to face off against the University of Western Cape (UWC).

Both teams secured their spots in the final on Thursday, with Gaborone United earning a narrow 1-0 victory over Herentals Queens, while UWC delivered a commanding 6-0 win against Young Buffaloes.

The final promises to be a thrilling contest between two teams that have shown remarkable qualities throughout the tournament.

Gaborone United, representing Botswana, demonstrated patience—a key virtue that paid off in their semifinal match.

Playing at the Mpria Stadium on Thursday, they faced stiff resistance from their opponents and had to wait until the 82nd minute when Yaone Modise finally found the net, sending her team into the final.

In the other semifinal, the University of Western Cape displayed a masterclass in goal-scoring, achieving a record-breaking 6-0 victory over Young Buffaloes.

The South African team was unstoppable, with Manengeka opening the scoring early before Gamede doubled the lead in the 26th minute.

Ndolovu added a third goal just after the hour mark, and Kortjie (74′), Mamabolo (78′), and Holweni (90′) completed the rout, sealing UWC’s place in the final.
