ANC and FF Plus take over Western Cape’s Oudtshoorn municipality after DA ouster | News24

The FF Plus and the ANC have taken control of the Oudtshoorn municipality after the DA was ousted from the coalition.

The FF Plus’ Johannes Allers and the ANC’s Jongilizwe Tyatya were elected as the mayor and deputy mayor respectively during a special council meeting on Thursday.

Tyatya was elected unopposed as the deputy mayor. Allers contested the mayoral seat with ousted mayor, the DA’s Chris Macpherson.

Last week, the FF Plus and ANC sponsored a motion of no confidence against Macpherson.

The Patriotic Alliance’s Suzanne Jansen was elected speaker.

This is a developing story.
