The story
Augsburg touched down in Mpumalanga for pre-season on Thursday, where they will face Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC and TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on 20 and 27 July, respectively.
The German side finished 11th in the Bundesliga last term, which was their highest finished since the 2014/15 season.Â

Upon arrival at their arrival at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, many locals and prominent officials like the sports minister of Mpumalanga and the mayor Mbombela were there to welcome the team.
The Augsburg players and staff were also treated to tour visual, which they confirmed highlighted the uniqueness of the region and showed its connection to the people and culture of Mpumalanga.
The victors were paraded with traditional song and dance, as they soaked in Mzansi’s beautiful cultural diversity and experience during their welcome ceremony.
Part of their visual tour was also inspired by the works of legendary South African artist Esther Mahlangu, who designed the team’s unique hats.Â
“The tour visual will not only be on FCA’s clothing during the training camp, but also on posters, perimeter boards in training and on the club’s social media channels,” the club wrote on their official website.
“The players and staff members wore the especially designed shirts for the tour, as well as colourful bucket hats, as they came off the plane”.Â
