The South African Weather Service has forecast mostly fine to cool conditions for the majority of the country, but it will still be rainy, windy and freezing in the Western Cape as the cold front continues in the province.

Impact-based warnings

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for damaging winds resulting in localised damage to settlements and difficult driving conditions over the southern parts of the Free State as well as western and northern parts of the Eastern Cape.

A Yellow Level 4 warning for damaging winds is expected over the southern parts of Namakwa in the Northern Cape, as well as the Central Karoo, including the Cape Winelands, Overberg and western parts of the Garden Route in the Western Cape, persisting until late morning.

A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for persistent damaging winds along the coast between Lambert’s Bay and Mossel Bay.

A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for damaging waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea between Lambert’s Bay and Mossel Bay.

An Orange Level 6 warning has been issued for damaging waves leading to the damage of coastal infrastructure and disruption of small harbours between Table Bay and Struisbaai in the morning.

An Orange Level 8 warning for disruptive rain leading to flooding and possible mudslides has been issued for the City of Cape Town as well as the Drakenstein and Stellenbosch municipalities in the Western Cape.

An Orange Level 6 warning has been issued for disruptive rain leading to flooding and possible mudslides in the Witzenberg and Swartland municipalities.

A Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rain leading to damage of roads and bridges has been issued for the West Coast, northern Cape Winelands and western Overberg districts in the Western Cape.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central parts of the country and the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The weather in your region

Fine and cold temperatures are expected for Gauteng.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Mpumalanga and Limpopo will be fine and cool, but it will be warm on the Lowveld.

Fine, windy and cool to warm conditions are forecast for the North West and the Free State.

The Northern Cape can expect partly cloudy conditions in the west and south with isolated showers and rain in the extreme west, but it will be cloudy in the south-west.

Otherwise, it will be fine, windy and cold to cool.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong northerly to north-westerly.

Cloudy, windy and cold to cool temperatures are forecast for the Western Cape with isolated to scattered showers and rain, but widespread in the south-western.

It will be partly cloudy in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly along the south coast.

Otherwise, a strong to gale north-westerly is expected, with a strong gale along the south-west coast at first.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

The western half of the Eastern Cape can expect fine, windy and cool conditions, but it will be warm in places in the south-east, becoming partly cloudy with light rain in the south-west from the evening.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy, windy and cool temperatures are forecast in the eastern half of the province, but it will be warm in places south of the escarpment.

The wind along the east coast will be moderate north-westerly.

Fine and cool to warm temperatures are forecast in KwaZulu-Natal, but it will be hot in places in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming light south-westerly from the south from the evening.
