‘The sun of the Lion of Lesotho has set’ — tributes pour in for Malome Vector

Music industry colleagues, friends and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to musician Malome Vector, who died in a car crash in the Free State on Wednesday.

Two other musicians are also said to have died in the accident.

The Free State Health Service confirmed three People were killed in an accident on the N1 when a car carrying musicians collided with a heavy vehicle at the Koppies exit.

“Their managers have been informed and have gone to the scene of the accident and the hospital to get details of what happened and who was involved so that the next of kin can be informed,” Mondli Mvambi, Free State Public Health Spokesperson, said:

Vector’s record label Ambitiouz Entertainment and Blaq Diamond were among those who paid tribute on the timeline.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of a shining beacon, the sun of the Lion of Lesotho has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers in this time of loss. Rest in peace Malome Vector,” said Ambitiouz Entertainment.

Blaq Diamond shared a statement on their timeline to pay tribute to Vector and rising star Lizwi Wokuqala.

“It is with deep sadness that we, Blaq Diamond, extend our sincere condolences to the families of our brothers Lizwi Wokuqala and Malome Vector and their music fans from Lesotho, South Africa and beyond.”
