Mia Boughan (9), a learner of the Staats Primary School in Kimberley, participated in New York in the Show Your Talent international dance competition.
At this event in June, Mia won three first place trophies and seven medals in various categories, including Best Junior Overall Dancer and Best Talented Dancer.
She was welcomed back in Kimberley by amongst other the MEC for Social Development, Youth, Women, People with Disabilities and Sport, Arts and Culture, Nontobeko Vilakazi, who said that as a department they strive to assist the creative and cultural industries in various genres as far as possible.
“We support all artists; we take them all over the world and expose them, and we will continue to do that,” she said.
