No arrests made after 8 people killed in Kanana tavern, says North West police

CAPE TOWN – North West police said no arrests have been made after eight people were shot and killed in a tavern at Extension 13 in Kanana, outside Klerksdorp.
 
According to police reports, the motive for the mass shooting has not yet been established.
 
The report said seven people died on the scene, while one other victim eied at a hospital.
 
The suspects fled the scene with CCTV Cameras, an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones, and a snooker table.
 
Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said several other people sustained gunshot wounds.
 
“The provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, condemns in the strongest possible terms the killing of seven people…at a tavern at Extension 13, Kanana location, near Orkney outside Klerksdorp. The suspects reportedly arrived at the tavern, looked for Basotho, then randomly fired shots.”
