The MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng has today, Sunday, 07 July 2024 visited the mining shaft where four members of the South African National Defence Force were found dead.
According to the SANDF statement, the four were part of the law enforcement team that is fighting illicit mining in the area.
MEC Morweng is however appreciative of the work done so far in fighting these illegal mining activities.
“Law enforcement has apprehended 87 suspects who have been successfully prosecuted with each now serving nine year sentence”, says MEC Morweng
