Malema urges EFF to steer away from factional battles ahead of elective conference

JOHANNESBURG – With the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) preparing for its elective conference, Julius Malema has urged the party’s ground forces to steer clear factional battles.

The EFF is expected to host its National People’s Assembly in December to elect a new set of leaders.

There are already signs of factional battles within the EFF, with some beginning to announce their preferred candidates for positions in the top six.

Speaking during the party’s 11th birthday bash in Northern Cape on Saturday, Malema said factionalism will not be tolerated in the EFF.

“We will never be part of a GNU [Government of National Unity] that has got DA [Democratic Alliance] and Freedom Front Plus. We will not sit at the same dinner table as the people who killed Chris Hani.

“We will not sit on the same dinner table with people who killed many young people during apartheid. DA is the National Party – National Party is apartheid.”
