Cape Town
clinic wall collapses in stormy weather

A perimeter
wall at Cape Town clinic has collapsed amid heavy rain and strong winds.

Western
Cape Health Department spokesperson Natalie Watlington confirmed that a wall at
the Retreat Day Community Health Centre collapsed on Tuesday. The province has
been battered by severe weather, as a cold front made landfall on Tuesday.

“This
is, at present, the only section of the facility that is impacted, and it will
not affect the running of our services,” she said.

Watlington
said the damage to the wall will be assessed once the rains have subsided, and
then necessary repairs will be made.

She said
that additional security measures have been implemented to secure the property.

“The
safety of our staff and patients is our main priority,” said Watlington.
