Ogopoleng Modise (37) was stabbed to death while jogging near La Verna Hospital in Ladysmith, KZN, on Saturday night.
According to police, shortly before 21:00, Modise’s family became concerned that he had not returned home.
Friends and family members searched for him until midnight.
“We traced the route we thought he would take, but saw nothing,” explains friend Casper Kempen.
The search continued yesterday morning and his body was found near La Verna Hospital.
He was found stabbed to death on the pathway between the hospital and town.
Police have confirmed that he took the pathway leading down from La Verna Hospital, where he was attacked.
A case of murder is being investigated by police.
Modise, an avid runner, recently completed the Comrades Marathon.
