Free State MP for Health Monyatso Mahlatsi has condemned the attack on a health worker by a disgruntled patient at the Thabong Clinic in Welkom on Friday.
According to Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the provincial health department, the patient went to a clinic early Thursday morning but was not helped as quickly as he had hoped.
“The patient left of his own accord but returned the next day with a bucket full of faeces which he poured over the health worker, polluting the reception area,” Mvambi said.
After the attack, the perpetrator bragged and posted a message on Facebook.
“A case was opened with the police and the employee involved received counseling from the department.”
