Despite the ongoing suspension of load shedding, Eskom has implemented load reduction in areas across the Western Cape.

Load reduction will be implemented on a rotational basis between 5am to 7am and 5pm to 7pm.

EWN has reported that this mechanism has been implemented by Eskom as a result of illegal connection which put pressure on its infrastructure. Theft of electricity by some customers has further contributed to the ongoing issue.

Residents have been warned that the reduction may increase if temperatures fall, due to increased electricity demand.
