Durban July Anticipated to Inject R250 Million into KZN Economy

The country’s richest horse racing event will take place at the Greyville Racecourse on Saturday. 

 

The chairperson of the City’s Economic Development Department, Thembo Ntuli, says some five thousand temporary jobs will also be created. 

 

He says they are expecting 45,000 people to come to Durban for the event.

 

Ntuli says safety will be a priority.

 

“Hollywood Durban July, metro police and other law enforcement agencies will be out in full force throughout the city during the period of the Durban July. There will be high police visibility around the Greyville area, and they will be complemented by private security.”

 

Some roads will be shut on Friday night.

 

“From 11 pm, the following roads will be closed: Mitchell Crescent and 6th Avenue. Clarence Road and 6th Avenue. Mitchell Crescent and 5th Avenue. Clarence Road and 5th Avenue and D.L.I Avenue.”
