Doctorate next award for Northern Cape gospel singer | News24

Award-winning gospel singer from Ritchie, Dorothy Mazingane, with the stage name “Dorothy M” has recently received another accolade.

She was honored with a honorary doctorate degree for her 30 years in the gospel music industry. This event took place on 6 July in Hermanus in the Western Cape, and she received her degree from The Global Bible College – School of Apologetics and Theology.

Dorothy M started singing at the age of 13 years. Late last year, she received a national award as Best Influential Gospel Musician for 2023. Previously, she served in the gospel industry in several provinces in South Africa, and amongst other in Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. She already released several albums, and has received numerous national awards and nominations.

On her Facebook page, Dorothy Matthys, she describes her 30 years in the industry as years of grace, but also as a lonely and painful journey.

On 8 September, Dorothy M will be celebrating her 30th anniversary in the gospel industry at the Northern Cape Theatre in Kimberley. During the In His Presence performance, Zelalem and Rowayne Riedt will also feature.
