Western Cape Premier Alan Winde reaffirmed the provincial Energy Council’s commitment to collaborating with Eskom to tackle electricity issues. The council discussed strategies with Eskom, which provided updates on recent mass outages and ongoing renovations at the Koeberg power station aimed at extending its operation by 20 years. Koeberg’s Unit 1 has been operational since mid-November and is nearing final licensing. Unit 2, currently offline for renovations, is slated to be back by September 30.
