The Western Cape Legislature is set to welcome several new faces after Chief Justice Raymond Zondo finalized the list of candidates. With the dissolution of the previous legislature on May 28, outgoing Premier Alan Winde and his cabinet will remain in office until the new leadership is sworn in within the next two weeks. The Democratic Alliance (DA) retains its majority with 24 seats, while the African National Congress (ANC) sees its representation drop from 12 to 8 seats. New members expected to join include former DA MPs Thomas Walters and Dave Bryant, alongside provincial figures like George Mayor Leon van Wyk and Jaco Londt. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), GOOD party, FF Plus, Al-Jama-ah, ACDP, National Colored Congress (NCC), and the Patriotic Alliance (PA) will also have representation. Brett Herron of the GOOD party emphasized advocating for equality and better services for all Western Cape residents. The new parliament will see a significant reshuffling, highlighting a dynamic political landscape.
