Well-deserved victory at Northern Cape Bowls mixed pairs play-offs | News24

Annelie and CP Mathewson, a mother-son duo from Beaconsfield Park Bowling Green Club, emerged victorious at the Northern Cape Bowls (NCB) Mixed Pairs event. They triumphed over Jan Erasmus and Caren van der Westhuizen from Sishen in a closely contested final on a cold and rainy Sunday in Kimberley. The match was tense, with scores tied after 19 games, but the Mathewsons clinched victory by scoring in the last two rounds. As the champions, they will represent the NCB at the Bowls South Africa Mixed Pairs competition. Finishing third were Wilhelm Malan and Charmaine Loock from Sishen, while Marietjie van den Berg and André Laubscher from Upington secured fourth place. Braam van der Westhuizen, NCB’s chairman, praised the event’s success and commended the players’ performances, despite the chilly weather. The upcoming prestigious veterans and junior masters event is scheduled this weekend in Kimberley.
