Week all about laughter for children from the Northern Cape | News24

During Smile Week at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley, the lives of 25 children from Northern Cape were transformed through reconstructive surgeries. Smile Week, coordinated by the Smile Foundation, enabled children born with cleft lips and palates to receive much-needed medical care. Families like Donna-Lé and her 17-month-old son Doraldo from Steinkopf, and Nosipha and her 19-month-old son Imthandile from Richmond, experienced life-changing surgeries.

The initiative also benefitted Isabella Khowe and her son Jacqowen from Askham, Lorenchia Oliphant and her daughter Lizaan from Douglas, and Emeron Markus and her son Juraygan from Upington. Smile Foundation CEO Tarri Parfitt highlighted the dedication of medical teams and financial sponsors. New Burns Unit Manager Sister Monza Modise-Keetile and Dr. Maria Giaquinto-Cilliers, Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at RMSH, praised the collective efforts. Milky Lane contributed blankets and toys to patients, showcasing community support for this meaningful cause.
