Two Limpopo teachers from the same family who died in a horror crash will be buried this Sunday

The Mpyana family will bury Asnath and Priscilla Mpyana on June 2 after a tragic accident on May 28 claimed the lives of 10 teachers. The teachers, from various schools in Bochum, were traveling in a Toyota minibus taxi that collided head-on with a truck on the R521 between Polokwane and Dendron. All passengers, including the drivers, perished. Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and Transport MEC Florence Radzilani visited the bereaved families, expressing condolences and appreciating the teachers’ contributions to education. Radzilani reported ongoing investigations into the crash, suspecting weather conditions and reckless driving as factors. She condemned the circulation of accident videos on social media, urging respect for the victims’ families. Cosatu Limpopo Chairperson Esther Mokoele highlighted the profound social loss. Funeral and joint memorial services will be held on June 1, 8, and 11, with Assupol contributing financially to the affected families.
