Thursday’s weather: Heatwaves persist in parts of Gauteng, Free State, North West, Eastern Cape | News24

South Africa is bracing for heat waves in several provinces on Thursday, as per the South African Weather Service. Inland Northern Cape, western Free State, North West, south-west Bushveld in Limpopo, and parts of inland KwaZulu-Natal face extremely high fire danger conditions. Heat wave conditions will persist until at least Friday in eastern North West, Free State, Gauteng, and the Alfred Nzo district in the Eastern Cape, posing health risks from prolonged sun exposure. Residents are advised to seek shade and stay hydrated.

In Gauteng, the weather will be hot with an extreme UVB index. Mpumalanga and Limpopo will experience warm conditions, while the Northern Cape promises fine but very hot weather, partly cloudy in the west. The Western and Eastern Cape expect morning fog and varying temperatures, with potential afternoon showers and thunderstorms in some areas. KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy and very hot inland, with the UVB index marked as extreme.
