Southern Free State paralyzes the Western Province

The Southern Free State U18 girls and boys teams had a strong showing at the U18 Nationals in Bloemfontein. The girls’ team, buoyed by Bianca Rees-Gibbs’ prolific goal-scoring, secured a 3-1 victory over Western Province, propelling them towards the semi-finals. Rees-Gibbs, with six goals so far, tops the Girls’ A section in scoring. They face a crucial match against South Gauteng.

In the boys’ section, Southern Free State held Northern Blues to a goalless draw. Despite several chances, the Northerns missed a key penalty late in the game. The boys will next play Eastern Province, followed by a match against KZN Inland A.

Results from the girls’ section showed comprehensive victories for South Gauteng A, Southern Free State A, and Boland A, among others. In the boys’ section, standout results included Western Province A’s 5-0 win over Boland and South Gauteng A’s 4-4 draw with KZN Coastal A.
