The South African U21 Hockey IPT concluded with a thrilling final at the University of Cape Town on April 5, 2024. North West women clinched the title by defeating hosts Western Province in a dramatic penalty shootout. Despite an early lead by Western Province, courtesy of captain Caylin Maree, North West equalized in the 40th minute through Chanel Genis. Arisha van Niekerk then propelled North West into the lead with just 10 minutes remaining. However, Western Province’s Katlego Bodibe scored a last-minute equalizer, pushing the game into a shootout. North West excelled, scoring all their attempts, while Western Province managed just one, securing North West’s championship victory. Northern Blues won the bronze medal by edging WP Peninsula 3-2. KZN Raiders and Eastern Province also triumphed in their respective matches. Highlights included individual awards for Richelle Norval, Elizabeth Anderson, Chanel Genis, and Ane Janse van Vuuren.
