Mpumalanga agripreneurs are leading the aquaponics charge into Africa

Lliam Roach, an entrepreneur initially uninterested in agriculture, shifted his focus during the Covid pandemic, discovering a passion for aquaponics due to its technical and sustainable qualities. Partnering with Mitch Marescia, they founded Ezulwini Africa, aiming to drive economic change through innovative farming. Their venture supports young black farmers via a network of aquaponic farms in Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, which allows for year-round production. Roach’s journey began with acknowledging the pressing challenges in South African agriculture. “I wasn’t focused on farming as such, but more on how we can use it to make a difference in the land,” he stated, emphasizing his thorough research into aquaponics as a forward-thinking farming method.
