Miss Mpumalanga contestant Angel Banda on empowering women entrepreneurs

Miss Mpumalanga First Princess Angel Banda has secured sponsorship from a sanitary napkin brand. The Carolina-born beauty queen, who holds a degree in chemical engineering, has also delved into modeling and is an aspiring entrepreneur. Banda, who competed twice in the Miss Mpumalanga pageant, earned the title of First Princess in the 2024 competition, which she says served as a stepping stone in her modeling career.

Banda balanced her studies with part-time jobs in the catering industry, an experience that ignited her passion for entrepreneurship and highlighted gender inequalities in business. Following the pageant in March, she was signed by Seasoned Agency, aimed at nurturing emerging talents. This opportunity led to her roles as a brand ambassador for Omoda South Africa and Dignity Sanitary Pads.

Banda advocates for the accessibility of sanitary pads for girls in rural areas, urging they be linked to child subsidies and made affordable or free.
