Limpopo man arrested for ‘rape’ stepdaughter

A 45-year-old man from Limpopo is due to appear at the Mokerong magistrate’s court in Mokopane on Tuesday, accused of raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter. He was arrested on Friday following multiple alleged incidents at their home in Sekgakgapeng. According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the abuse occurred between May and June when the child’s mother was away receiving medical treatment. Upon her return on June 13, the girl revealed that her stepfather had threatened to kill her if she spoke about the abuse. The mother took her daughter to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed the sexual assault. The case sheds light on the grave issue of child abuse and the threats victims often face to silence them.
