The proliferation of shisanyamas, renowned for their vibrant atmosphere and grilled delicacies, has increasingly been linked to a surge in livestock theft in KwaZulu-Natal.

So said the African Farmers’ Association of South Africa (Afasa) after the recent arrest of two men, aged 41 and 52, who were found in possession of alleged stolen cattle in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday night.

KwaZulu-Natal police said an officer driving from Dundee to Kranskop on the R33 noticed a bakkie towing a trailer with four cattle inside and pulled it over.
