The KwaZulu-Natal ruling coalition has unveiled a power-sharing structure that allocates executive positions based on the party with the highest vote count. Prime Minister Thami Ntuli introduced his ten-member executive branch on Tuesday, detailing the leaders for various portfolios. The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) will oversee four key areas: Public Enterprise, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Agriculture, and Sports. The African National Congress (ANC) will manage health, education, transport, and human settlements. The Democratic Alliance (DA) will handle finance and public works, whereas the National Freedom Party (NFP) will be responsible for social development.
The coalition agreement reflects the recent vote percentages, with the IFP taking the lead by securing 18% of the votes, translating to the most MECs. The ANC follows with three MECs at 16%, the DA with two at 14%, and the NFP with one. The lineup for the ten portfolios includes key figures such as Musa Zondi for Economic Development (IFP) and Nomagugu Simelane for Health (ANC).
