Lelokonyana Isak Letseng, a 44-year-old company director from the Free State, is facing additional fraud charges linked to the Covid-19 Temporary Employment Relief Scheme (Ters) fund. Arrested and brought before the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court, Letseng is accused of fraud involving two companies, Bophelo Botle Solutions (Pty) Ltd and Izuz Gibbor (Pty) Ltd. Investigations by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) revealed that Letseng fraudulently claimed Ters funds for individuals not employed by these companies. Bophelo Botle Solutions received nine payments totaling around R800,000 between September and December 2020, while Izuz Gibbor received R101,555.92 between July 2020 and December 2021. Letseng will appear in court on May 15 for the Bophelo Botle case and on June 11 for the Izuz Gibbor case. He has been granted bail of R5,000 and R10,000 respectively for each case.
