A 42-year-old man has been arrested after a 28-year-old woman, his girlfriend, was fatally attacked by four pit bulls in Namibia Square, Free State. The incident happened on Monday while she was visiting him and left alone in the garden. A distressing video shows the dogs mauling her as bystanders shout. The images are too graphic to share. Police, alerted at 3pm, arrived to find her severely injured, mainly on the lower body. Emergency services declared her dead on the scene. Three of the dogs were killed by police, while the SPCA rescued the fourth dog and its puppies. The man faces charges under the Animal Matters Amendment Act and a case of culpable homicide. He is set to appear in Bloemfontein court on Thursday.
