Free State farmer arrested for two counts of attempted murder

An 82-year-old farmer from Free State was arrested for allegedly shooting and injuring two young hunters, aged 18 and 19, in Ladybrand. The incident occurred on Friday around 8:30 p.m. when the teenagers were confronted by the farmer while hunting. The farmer allegedly swore at them, prompting them to flee in their car. The farmer pursued and shot at them, injuring the 18-year-old driver in the shoulder. The passenger then drove to their farm and the injured man was subsequently taken to a hospital in Bloemfontein for treatment. The farmer was arrested the following day, and police confiscated his firearm for further analysis. He is set to appear in Ladybrand District Court on Monday.
